Buses in Gyeonggi Province are becoming semi-publicized. Buses do not have the characteristics of market goods but of public goods, but bus fares are low and bus companies are small. Since bus companies cannot make profits, all burdens are passed on to bus drivers, and the working conditions of bus drivers are very harsh. I had filed a petition with Gyeonggi Province six years ago. Before that, I had met protesters against railroad privatization in front of the main gate of the National Assembly building. At that time, the conservative government showed its will to privatize the railroad and medical sectors only according to ideological logic, without distinguishing between the characteristics of public goods and market goods.
Capitalist logic is justified because of human selfishness, but I have witnessed the disaster brought by human selfishness firsthand on the bus. In Gyeonggi-do buses, buses with semi-public systems and buses with no public systems coexist. And the driving styles of the two are so different. Buses without a semi-public system have very rough driving styles. I once suffered severe mental pain due to a company's city bus that did not have a semi-public system when driving. Sudden start stops were common and often confused other bus drivers by intervening in a hurry. Occasionally, a reasonable accident occurred in a reasonable place. The company's bus drivers were being abused by the owner's illusion that sales would increase if they traveled a lot quickly. And the social damage suffered around them was also considerable. Funnily enough, the bus company is said to oppose the quasi-public system because it makes profits.
If my interest is the benefit of zero-sum that results from the sacrifice of others, it is an unfair interest. That's why we always call for a creative economy. We should not drag the economic plate to the battlefield of the Red Ocean. Modern capitalism is strengthening the function of the market economy with high-quality social welfare, taking into account the minimum wage, working hours, gender equality, and happiness index, along with the creative economy. Now is the time when ideological debates become meaningless in discussing economic policy.
Looking at the gap between buses that have a quasi-public system and buses that have not been established, Seoul was much more severe. Seoul's village buses, which did not have a quasi-public system, were posing as necessary but despised by the citizens of Seoul. There was no garage and operating conditions were poor. Seoul's village buses were showing the problems of early capitalism, where the weak were exploited but did not hear good. Nevertheless, the reality of Seoul buses is that they entrust academic research services to produce research results that deviate from reality. At this time, I had a question. The current nature of the Seoul mayor is conservative, but I thought that the ideological nature of the Seoul mayor might be distorting reality.
Growth goes with change. Ideological logic hinders growth. Revised capitalism is an ideology that arose to compensate for the problems of early capitalism and for sustainable growth.
