German Reunification / Habermas

It is said that Germany's economy will overtake Japan soon. No matter how difficult the world economy is, the German economy always grows. The reason why Germany is strong is that it is a country of engineering that is superior to ideology.

War and conflict are rampant in the world these days. The reasons are 1) ideology 2) conservative leaders' tendency to conflict 3) temperament of leaders who are older than middle-aged age. Of course, there is support from people of the same disposition. The tendency of the people cannot be ignored. This is because it rationalizes the tendencies of leaders.

The reason why Germany unified is because of its rational national orientation. This is because Germans were able to overcome ideological prejudice, stereotypes, or inertia quickly. The reason why she was able to work for a long time as Chancellor of Germany, an engineer (Merkel) from East Germany, shortly after the unification, is because of Germany's rational tendency. Compared to Korea, Korea has a long way to go. Before talking about unification on the Korean Peninsula, we should first look back on social tendencies contaminated with ideological concepts.

Jurgen Habermas, a philosopher of the Frankfurt School in Germany, says that in our everyday world, communication is conducted aimed at a valid agreement, not violence and coercion, and he calls this rationality of communication.

Disruption is caused by corrupt ideas, and peace is brought by healthy substance.

Rigidity and Scalability / Goethe

Goethe, a great writer, is said to have said "brighter light" just before his deathbed. Napoleon, who lived a passionate life, said, "Genius is a fireball from the sky," met Goethe and murmured, "Only he is human." Napoleon seems to have discovered constant passion and inner territory in Goethe. It can be said that Napoleon's inner self and Goethe's inner self formed a consensus.

Rigidity narrows the position. Rigid organizations and humans cease to expand and develop. If someone puts up a strong ideological and religious position, they become conservative and stop developing. In particular, if the political position is rigid with ideology, the state and society are found to be on the decline. The reality of the world is like that these days.

Politics of major powers that divided the world into the Cold War, Japanese politics that maintain conservative attitudes, Korean politics that undermines public interest with ideological causes, and North Korean politics that emphasize ideological armament all need relaxation(or ad hoc).

When I look back on the past,

If President Putin and Russian intelligence had grasped Ukraine, Russia, and international relations well, there would have been no war of great sacrifice. The inflexibility of intelligence activities was mentioned a lot about the Korean intelligence ministry a long time ago, and it was frequently visited by the Russian intelligence department at the time, but eventually things got to this point.

Korea has many difficulties to solve both economically and international relations. I thought that there would be many difficulties if the rigid prosecution organization was involved in politics with a domestic political perspective. Looking at the results, there is also no light. The current government seems to have failed not on political issues but on rationality.

As international conditions are gloomy due to the new Cold War, North Korea is again emphasizing ideological armament. However, more positive and future-oriented values should be put forward. The reason why major powers have driven the world to a new Cold War is that they have failed to come up with future-oriented values.

The "brighter light" Goethe said on the verge of death is necessary for everyone.

https://hyeong-chun.blogspot.com/search?q=%EA%B5%AD%EC%A0%95%EC%9B%90

A Fair, Not Welfare, Society / Lee Kuan Yew

The title of this article is the title of a chapter in the autobiography of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore. Pragmatic Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew's policy direction is implied. The chapter read:

We believed in socialism, in fair shares for all, Later we learnt that personal motivation and personal rewards were essential for a productive economy. However, because people are unequal in their abilities, if performance and rewards are determined by the marketplace, there will be a few big winners, and a considerable number of losers. That would make for social tensions because a society’s sense of fairness is offended.

A competitive, winner-takes-all society, like colonial Hong Kong in the 1960s, would not be acceptable in Singapore. A colonial government did not have to face elections every five years; the Singapore government did. To even out the extreme results of free-market competition, we had to redistribution the national income through subsides on things that improved the earning power of citizens, such as education.

Housing and public health were also obviously desirable. But finding the correct solutions for personnal medical care, pensions or retirement benefits was not easy. We decided each matter in a pregmatic way, always mindful of possible abuse and waste. If we over-redistributed by higer taxation, the high performers would cease to strive. Our difficulty was to strike the right balance.

- [From Third World To First] by Lee Kuan Yew -

In Korea, where the Cold War-era confrontation is still latent in the national consciousness, the level of consciousness of politicians may be limited to the Cold War (ideological confrontation). Or a politician could use the civic consciousness trapped in the Cold War consciousness as a means to maintain political power. The civic consciousness I looked at was still inert to ideology. In order for politicians to have true leadership to lead citizens, they must not forget the ultimate purpose and have a sense of balance, which will require a lot of physical strength and mental strength. Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew has truly achieved great results in this regard.

South Korea and North Korea do not need capitalism, South Korea and North Korea do not need socialism, and the two countries need sustainable development of their countries and societies. I have experienced that there are many difficulties in expressing political opinions in a balanced manner at the bottom of Korean society, and much more, North Korea, which has a strong tendency to be an ideological state, will have serious difficulties in having balanced thinking. To put it simply, even if North Korean President Kim Jong-un wants to accept the market economy, he cannot rapidly change the scientific socialist ideology deeply rooted in public consciousness. That's why 'incremental opening' may be necessary. Looking at Korean politicians and citizens whose minds are trapped in ideological thinking while the country is globalized, I can guess how difficult it is to change ideas.

These days, Korea's current government has proposed a bill to extend working hours, which should be considered from the perspective of humans, not from the perspective of efficiency or growth. From what I experienced directly at the working site, the efficiency improved and the turnover rate was low only when the working site was pleasant and comfortable. One big realization I have gained in the workplace for more than a decade is that humans are not machines. Humans should not be interpreted as ideology or efficiency. Low birth rate or rapid economic problems in Japan or Korea should be interpreted as a negative effect toward a capitalist society without realizing a true equal society.

In many ways, not only South Korea but also North Korea should refer to the purpose-oriented policy direction that abandons the ideology carried out by Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

 - [From Third World To First]  by Lee Kuan Yew -

The end of an ideological state / The three countries of the East

A talented person who had difficulty obtaining a doctorate in engineering in the United States around 1997 worked as a researcher at the Daedeok Research Complex in Korea. However, he learned that Korea's treatment for scientists was very insufficient, so he prepared for the bar exam and passed it after four years. I also temporarily prepared for the bar exam at that time, so I still vividly remember the case in which the Doctor of Engineering turned into a lawyer.

https://hyeong-chun.blogspot.com/search?q=science+and+technology

On the one hand, China's wise leaders, such as Deng Xiaoping and Zhou Enlai, planned China's scientific and technological development to escape the ideological collapse. I also read a newspaper article in 1997 that expanded the number of scientific and technological personnel from 3,000 during the Mao era to 30 million. Japan's scientific and technological development, which began during the Meiji Restoration, was undergoing the cutting-edge through the Second World War and Japan's revival.

My determination to become a legal person and become a 'useful' person in the country and society has become awkward. In fact, it was science and technology personnel who succeeded in economic development of the Park Chung-hee administration in Korea. And later, the Chinese leader who liked Mao Zedong changed ideologically. In Japan, hereditary elites from liberal arts became leaders and gradually pushed Japan into the world of ideology. Not to mention Korea. What I myself experienced in the lower part of society made me look at the future of Korea dark. I describe Korea's healthy workplace as the lower class. To that extent, Korea was a society where freedom and equality were not properly implemented like Western society.

The three Eastern countries, which are ideological countries, may be slowly on the path of collapse. Someone may be able to "discover" a lot of reasonable logic, but the gap between rich and poor and social stratification has contributed to the construction of a "unfavorable" society. The real estate problem in the three Eastern countries is due to distorted ideals and hopes. It was much more ideal to have a dream of rising real estate prices than earned income from a healthy workplace. Meanwhile, other sectors stagnated and economic demand was concentrated on real estate. So now, as real estate fell, the future of the country was going to fall.

In Korea and the United States, many legal elites want to become politicians. Since the political process is a legislative process and they can retain their lawyer's license after retirement, they have the advantage of focusing on politics. However, it is also true that they cause a lot of problems with conservative tendencies (even far-right tendencies) and ideological thinking. In particular, ideological thinking is done more than necessary. They can't think that ideological thinking doesn't exist unless they think. The reason is that they have become accustomed to normative value judgment rather than empirical thinking such as scientists and engineers. If this problem is not improved, the future of Korea will be even darker. Of course, it is far more desirable for North Korea to think of becoming a practical science and technology country rather than accepting capitalism.
