Thirty years ago, a novel by American bestselling author Sidney Sheldon became popular. I had a lot of fun reading memories at the time, so I bought some English versions these days, Moreover, these days, I tend to meet many old people in old places, so it has been a great opportunity to see how I am becoming conservative. The world in the novel could see that not only the flow of IT technology but also people’s feelings are very different from those of today. If I continue to live closely with the past for a long time, I expect it to be completely conservative.
Kuhn ( Tomas Samuel Kuhn 1922 – 1996 ), a former MIT engineering professor, created a paradigm theory. The paradigm is like ‘the framework of any main viewpoints’ of the period or place, and even science says it does the activity of creating and proving within the paradigm of the period or place. The Ptolemaic theory has been changed to The Copernicus theory. The Copernicus theory is the creation of a new paradigm. Kuhn says science is becoming ‘non-continuous’ by this paradigm shift.
Events such as the Civil Revolution in social science also brought about the non-continuous development of civilized society. Japan had no civil revolution from below. There was a Meiji I Sin(明治維新) in the scope of the Emperor. Japan, which had no paradigm shift, is still very conservative and its economy and social culture are collapsing.
Moreover, Eastern societies have a tradition of withholding the possibility of senior citizens living in an innovative world. And the vertical social atmosphere in the Eastern societies also prevents old people from innovating. Japanese society is a society that has been inherited by young people in the conservatism of the elderly.
Thirty years ago and thirty years ago, Japan was defeated and there was an ideological war on the Korean Peninsula. Thirty years ago and 30 years later(at this time), the Korean Peninsula is still engaged in ideological disputes and Japan is showing off its tenacious history and tradition. People in Northeast Asia are indeed living closely with the past.
