When you get older, the problem you will be afraid of is that negative minds overwhelm positive ones. Maybe it’s because you’re frustrated with your otherwise slow biorhythm or perhaps because of the difference between nostalgia for the splendid past and the shabby reality. I’ve been seeing people of all ages for a long time. I realized that everyone needed to develop a new field and cultivate their inner world with a positive and altruistic mind. Otherwise, i’m sure the negative mind and the old mind will make you and your surroundings very difficult.
Japan’s Abe cabinet, which launched a trade war against South Korea, will be a case in point to show Japan’s negative side of its aging population. Whether Tokyo has a past imperial delusion to use its hostility toward the outside world to win votes in the upcoming upper house elections, or attempts to establish a pro-Japanese government by crushing the South Korean government’s economic policies, all is evidence that Japan is an old-weak nation. Or, Japan seems to have anxiety that the upcoming cooperation between Seoul and Pyongyang will greatly dampen Japan.
Japan is a country that wants to go in a small and inner direction, a Korean scholar(Lee Eu-ryeong) once criticized, and so is the case. Japan is a country that has not been democratized internally, as described in the previous articles. Politicians like Abe use such weaknesses of the Japanese as a political tool by instigating them religiously and ideologically. That is proof that Japan is a old-weak state and a minus state.
China is also turning neighboring countries into debt colonies through its new Silk Road policy. Like Japan, it is a minus-state. The Japanese media and Hongkong’s citizens also try to rebel against the government. The Japanese government, however, believes that citizens of old age society are gaining energy by reflecting on the imperial era in the past. The Chinese government seems to be well aware of the limitations of its people, who are revolutionaries but have no democratic experience. The Chinese government will try to eliminate the people’s desire for democracy from the ground up. So take an expansionist policy.
In the longer term, South Korea is the most democratic and benign country in North-east Asia and has a future. North Korea is a young country that predicts openness and rapid development. Unlike Japan and China, the Korean Peninsula will play a positive role in the global economy and peace.
나이 들면 두려워해야 할 문제는 부정적 마음이 긍정적인 마음을 압도하기 시작하는 점일 것이다. 아마 그것은 마음과는 다르게 느려지는 생체리듬에 좌절을 느낀 탓도 있을 것이고, 화려했던 지난날에 대한 향수와 초라해진 현실과의 괴리감의 문제일 수도 있을 것이다. 오랫동안 각 연령층의 사람들을 만나 본 결과, 끊임없이 새로운 영역을 찾아 나서고 긍정적이고 이타적인 마음으로 자신의 내면세계를 양성화 시키지 않으면 음성적인 늙은 마음은 자신과 주변을 많이 어둡게 할 것임을 확인했다.
한국과 무역전쟁을 일으킨 일본 아베내각은 노화된 일본의 부정적인 면모를 보여주는 대표적인 사례일 것 같다. 일본 정부가 다가오는 참의원 선거에서 외부에 대한 적대감을 이용해 국민들의 표를 집권당으로 집중시키고자 하는 과거 제국주의적 망상을 갖고 있든지 아니면 한국 정부의 경제정책을 무너뜨려 친일 정부를 만들고자 하든지 하는 시도는 지극히 과거 지향적인 노인정부의 모습을 보여주고 있는 듯하다. 어쩌면 앞으로 있을 남한과 북한의 협력관계가 일본을 매우 위축 시킬 것이라는 불안감의 사전적 표현이라고도 할 수 있을 것 같다.
일본을 축소지향적인 성질을 갖은 국가라는 한국 학자(이어령)의 비판이 과거부터 있었지만 일본은 과거 지향적이고 내적으로 응축되고자 하는 열망이 강한 음성국가이다. 저번 글에서도 지적했지만 일본이 내면적으로 민주화되지 못하고, 아베와 같은 정치인은 일본인의 그런 약점을 종교적이고 이념적인 선동으로 정치권력의 도구로서 사용하고자 하는데, 그런 의도는 일본이 확실하게 노쇄한 국가이며 음성(마이너스)국가로 존재한다는 점을 잘 보여주고 있다.
중국이 일대일로 정책으로 주변 국가들을 채무의 덫으로 옭아 맨 음성적 결론이나 일본의 끊임없는 한국 괴롭히기 정책들의 이면에는 자국내에서 민주적이고 양성적인 정치를 만들어내지 못한 결과로 봐야 할 것이다. 간혹 일본의 언론들이나 홍콩의 시민들은 정부의 정책에 반항을 해보기도 하지만 일본 정부는 노령사회의 국민들이 아직도 과거 제국주의 시절의 전성기를 그리워하며 그 추억에서 힘을 얻을 것이라는 판단을 하고 있다. 중국 정부는 혁명은 있었으되 민주화된 사회는 가져 보지 못한 국민들의 한계를 잘 알고 국민들의 민주화 열망을 근본부터 제거하고자 할 것이다. 그래서 역시 팽창주의 정책이다.
좀 더 장기적인 전망을 생각하면 동북아시아에서 가장 민주화된 양성적인 한국이나 앞으로 개방과 급속한 발전을 전망하고 있는 젊은 국가인 북한은 일본이나 중국과는 달리 세계 각국의 경제와 평화에 긍정적인 역할을 할 것이라는 확신이 든다.
