A long time ago, I expressed my opposition to the involvement of prosecutors in politics. There was no bad feeling about the prosecutor-turned-personnel. This is because the act of making legal judgments about the facts that have already occurred and the political judgment that must create a good state are very different directions. It may be because we live in an era where there are more important things than just the idea of taking the upper seat of the vertical system or the conceptual goal of pursuing fairness.

 

I once lived in Gangwon-do for a long time. And to understand the world and people, I did a lot of field work that felt a great sense of responsibility in Seoul and the metropolitan area. At the same time, I felt that balanced development between regions was not seriously carried out. Seoul and the Seoul metropolitan area gathered people while doing wrong and inefficient development, and Gangwon-do and other provinces were rapidly underdeveloped. Perhaps if Korea's future development is put on the brakes, the cause will be the problem of uneven land development.

 

Now is a time of great difficulty for the Korean economy as U.S. interest rates rise and raw material prices suddenly rise due to the New Cold War and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The won fell against the dollar. Like the past IMF bailout days, the outflow of dollars from Korea is also on the verge of becoming serious. If currency speculation occurs at some point, there is a risk of experiencing those memories again. In a slightly different direction, speculation should not be outlawed in the capitalist world. However, I think international regulations that restrict foreign exchange speculation to some extent are necessary.

 

The current governor of Gangwon Province, a prosecutor-turned-governor, made a decision to inflict fatal damage on the precarious Korean economy, which has become an issue. Gangwon-do was not productive, so the former governor tried to attract tourism. However, the current governor did not seem to like such a decision by his predecessor. It's understandable. As such, Gangwon-do was alienated from the balanced development of the country and was poor because of that. In addition, Gangwon-do was a place where positive decisions such as creation and pioneering were needed rather than negative decisions such as control and opposition. I regret that the current governor should have understood the decision of the former governor a little more.

The former governor of Gangwon Province hosted a theme park called Legoland to help the struggling economy of Gangwon Province. But it didn't make much profit. At the time of creating Legoland, the developer was in debt, and Gangwon Province guaranteed payment. Legoland was unlikely to make enough profits now and in the future. The current governor, who criticized the former governor's decision, withdrew the payment guarantee. The bond market froze as local governments, a public institution, withdrew payment guarantees. Korea's overall bond market has lost credibility. In the end, the central government refused to guarantee 200 billion won in payment, leading to a situation in which the central government had to inject nearly 100 trillion won in emergency capital into the bond market.

 

Gangwon-do, which was alienated from the balanced development of the country, was a problem, and the narrow perspective of the provincial governor who was a prosecutor was a problem. The current president, a prosecutor-turned-president, or future political leaders, should be used as a profit-making tool. The habit of ideologically thinking of the national system should be abandoned. That is why Japan has become difficult. This is because they did not try to revitalize the real economy such as manufacturing, but focused on the ideological distribution of the monetary economy such as Abenomics. Ideas should be avoided and substance should be directed.

 

In addition, the reason why the global economy was confused due to the New Cold War and Russia's invasion of Ukraine was also a fundamental problem in ideological conflicts. In addition, there is an evaluation that the former governor of Gangwon-do and the current governor had a preemptive conflict mentality due to different ideologies.
